My name is Yasmin, I’m a bilingual American bilingual actress of Iranian origins based in Paris, with home bases in New York and Los Angeles. I've studied at conservatories in the New York City, as well as in Paris. I grew up California and studied Francophone Haitian and Martinican literature in France, Haïti, and Martinique, where I frequented numerous writers and artists and learned about their work from a personal perspective, as I was brought to interview them. I also founded and ran a non-profit called Singa (which means connection in Lingala) in Montréal, which was based on the French non-profit of the same name, focused on creating synergies around shared passions and projects in the arts between refugees who fled their home countries to Montréal and other locals.
As an adolescent, I studied theatre extensively through the Berkeley Rep Theatre in California, where I grew up. I've studied and deepened my craft as an actor in Los Angeles - at the University of Southern California (USC) -, in New York - at NYU, the Maggie Flanigan Studio, and at the Intent to Live, with Larry Moss, the greatest teacher I have ever had -, and in Paris, at L'Ecole Périmony. In New York these past years, I was able to act in a number of short films and TV pilots. I also wrote a script in residency based upon my mother's flight from Iran at the height of the 1979 Revolution. I've also been writing and developing a solo show called Details my mother left out, based upon my mother's life and my search for certain truths in the aftermath of her passing.
