Marie Reignier

Marie Reignier is an actress, writer, and director whose work explores quiet outsiders confronting what they inherit — family legacies, social environments, and silence — at the moment when becoming oneself becomes unavoidable.

Trained in France and abroad and working in both French and English, she has lived in London and Australia and moves between cinema, theatre, and television. As an actress, she is drawn to interior, understated characters, often positioned on the margins, navigating desire and belonging through presence and observation rather than action.

She is the recipient of the Louis Guilloux Prize for a short story (2010) and wrote, directed, and performed in Hollywood Brûle, created at the Studio Hébertot in Paris and presented over 32 performances in the fall of 2025. Set in 1950s America, the play examines the disillusionment of the American Dream and the subtle mechanisms of alienation it produces.

Across projects ranging from intimate coming-of-age narratives to collective and intergenerational dramas, she explores how inheritance and unspoken histories leave lasting imprints on bodies and choices. She is currently developing several short films, including L’Île Sauvage, shortlisted by Trégor Cinéma and pitched at the European Short Film Festival of Brest (November 2025). Her work — on stage and on screen, in front of and behind the camera — is marked by a restrained emotional language, a sensitive observational gaze, and a belief that transformation often happens quietly.
