KLARA MOTHES

My name is Klara Mothes; I am primarily an actress trained at the Claude Mathieu School. I enjoy thinking through a project from start to finish, from its inception right through to its presentation to the audience. In particular, I produce my own work within my collective, where I also lead the artistic and communications work.

I recently played Angélique in Martin Provost’s feature film *Demain je tombe amoureux*. At the same time, I’m continuing my work as a writer and director by developing my own projects.

What draws me in are works that take risks, that play with the boundaries between the tragic, the burlesque and the absurd. Monty Python, the Munstrum theatre company and certain forms of offbeat cinema are a major source of inspiration for my imagination. I love creations that surprise, that sometimes unsettle, but which remain deeply human.

As an actress, I strive for a committed, physical and sincere performance, capable of bringing laughter and emotion together. As a writer and director, I create from the stage, through improvisation and drawing on reality, paying particular attention to rhythm, dialogue and situations. I am deeply committed to the projects I lead and I love collaborative ventures where everyone channels their energy towards a shared vision.
